From the Wiener Becken to the Traisen and Gölsen area: having 1.300 square kilometres intact nature close to a megacity is something rare and very special worldwide. Forests and sandstone hills in the west, cliffy limestone rocks in the east, deciduous forests and pinewoods, interrupted by meadows and fields, determine the landscape. The Greeks already mentioned the Wienerwald as woody mountains, and the Romans discovered its natural powers for healing and recreation. Today the thermal springs around the city Baden still refresh body and soul - they could serve as a relaxing finishing point and highlight of a hiking tour. Another destination after a long hike could be one of the many Heurigens: Wine, which grows on the romantically situated hillsides, can be tasted in the Heurigens alongside the path. |
