Danube cycling path - Comfortably alongside the Danube
The Danube cycling path belongs to the nicest and most popular cycling routes of Europe. No wonder - the last stage before Vienna leads through the northern branches of the Wienerwald region. In Tulln cyclists can already enjoy the first view of the typical Wienerwald landscape and scenery. Passing the castle Greifenstein, the way leads to Klosterneuburg and finally through the „Wiener Pforte“ at the Leopoldsberg hill to Wien…

EuroVelo 9 – Cycling with European esprit
From the big European cycling paths, the EuroVelos, the number 9 leads from Danzig to Pula and runs through the eastern part of Lower Austria. One part of the route also explores the Wienerwald.

The Wienerwald part runs on about 50 very flat kilometres from Vienna over Schwechat, Himberg and alongside the river Triesting to Schönau and further on alongside the Viennese Neustädter channel to the city Wiener Neustadt. Arriving there you can take the train back to Vienna.

Mountain bike cycling – Everyone according to his own desires
The Wienerwald offers mountain bike tracks of all levels of difficulty and for all desires: There are 46 very well signposted routs with more than 1.000 guides for your orientation and three different degrees - Family (easy), Fun (middle), Power (hard).

Nearly every route is connected with another one, which enables cyclists to plan their own routes and also longer tours with overnight stays in one of the associated municipalities.

The network extends from the Danube to the south of Bad Vöslau and from Neulengbach in the west to Vienna in the east.

On about 1.000 kilometres around 20.000 metres of difference in altitude are overcome. At the 80 different entrance places into the route network you will receive exact information about the course of the route and the altitude profile of the routes you can choose. From Vienna there are 16 such entrance places into the Wienerwald route network.

There are also enough locations where you can build up your strength again: More than 80 gastronomic businesses alongside the mountain bike routes are specialised on the needs of cyclists.

You can purchase very detailed cards and material with all the information about the length of the routes, the soil conditions and altitude difference as well as cultural and culinary tips at the Intersport-Eybl shop in Vienna, ARBÖ, ÖAMTC, in book shops, at the tourism region Wienerwald and in many gastronomic businesses for € 10.
