Our hike begins at the Klein Mariazell Abzweigung bus stop. From the bus stop, we follow the signs toward the Klein-Mariazell Basilica heading north until we turn right onto the Leopoldpfad. We follow the trail and arrive at the basilica. We take the path on the right in front of the basilica, past the parking lot, and follow the Via Sacra signs uphill. We reach the Panorama Loop Trail (on the right) and, passing the Hüber Cross, continue to the red-marked trail toward Hafnerberg. After a short rest at the Druid Stone, we hike down the Way of the Cross to the church at Hafnerberg. From there, we follow the signs toward Neuhaus until, after passing the “Zum Kleinen Semmering” inn, we take the first side street on the right. At the end of the street, we reach a forest trail, which we follow first to the left and then straight ahead downhill (red). We reach the Nöstach federal highway, cross it, and, following the markings, continue on our way to Altenmarkt an der Triesting.
Please be careful in the forest, as the cold weather may cause some areas to be slippery.
