Hiking tour Starting from Kaumberg, main square
Kaumberg is the westernmost municipality in the Triestingtal. Here, the difference between the gentle hills of the Vienna Woods and the pre-Alpine region already becomes clear. To the north and east of the village of Kaumberg, shorter hikes through hilly cultural landscapes are possible.
The beautiful hikes are also described on the Kaumberg municipality's hiking map as Frog Trail, Hahn Trail, Castle Trail, Deer Trail, and Fox Trail. The village of Kaumberg itself offers some sights such as the barrel fountain at the main square, the Gothic parish church St. Michael, and the local history museum. A special highlight of the municipality and a very popular excursion destination is the widely visible Araburg castle ruins.
The Hahn Trail leads over the viewpoint "Lug ins Land" into the Steinbach valley and across meadows and pastures back to Kaumberg. From the market square, the hike passes briefly through the village and then follows the promenade along the Laabach brook downstream until you turn left at the ski slope. Through beech forest and finally across meadows with larch trees, you ascend to the highest point "Lug ins Land" at 636 m above sea level. Here you can enjoy a great view of the Araburg, Hocheck, and the hilly landscape between Steinbach valley and Höfnergraben up to Peilstein. The descent into Steinbach valley first crosses a meadow, then leads through the forest down to the Hagerhof. On the lightly trafficked road in Steinbach valley, you soon reach Hof Ebner, where you ascend over meadows to the "Red Cross". The "Promenade" brings the hiker back to Kaumberg.
