Description
This geological theme trail opens up the eastern part of the Harzberg and explains, through 17 stations with interesting display panels, why this region has so many special features to offer. The circular route follows a well-signposted and easily walkable path. It leads over Helenenhöhe, the quarry, and the Marschgrube up to the Jubiläumswarte on the Harzberg with a fantastic view into the distance.
Along this route, you learn a lot about
- the general geological conditions prevailing in the region
- the formation of some rocks and the forces that shaped today’s landscape
- why you can see the massive shifts of the earth’s crust almost nowhere as clearly as in Bad Vöslau
- how the Vöslau thermal water ends its path underground
- how the extraction of friction sand contributed to the formation of the cave system at Harzberg
- and much more
Please inquire in advance at the Tourist Info Bad Vöslau whether the caves can be visited.
