Model garden

Description
Gardening connects and strengthens!
The Breitenfurt village community is an initiative founded in 1997 that offers people with disabilities an integrated life in a village context. The curative education and socio-therapeutic work in the village community is based on Dr. Rudolf Steiner's anthroposophical view of the human being. Currently 85 people are cared for and 130 staff are employed.
The individual buildings are connected by park-like green spaces and include meadows, a stand of mature trees, a small wood with a pond, shrub and rose beds, play areas and seating for the residents. Next to a vine-covered terrace are the willow house and swinging bowl fountain - the heart of the complex and a meeting place for residents and staff.
A characteristic feature is the alternation of raised and mown meadow areas where the green space is to be made accessible for use. The transition from cultivated to natural areas is fluid. Nature is permitted and at the same time designed so that it can be experienced by residents and visitors.
