Museum
Description
In 1936, the Austrian poet Josef Weinheber (1892 to 1945) acquired a property in Kirchstetten, which he lived in with his wife until his death. Many of his works were written in Kirchstetten during this time. Weinheber loved this place and wrote about it in numerous letters. His final resting place is in the garden of the house. The house and garden are now owned by his son Christian Weinheber-Janota, who lives here with his family. Some of the rooms in which the poet himself lived and worked have been left as they were and can be viewed at any time by appointment (Tel. 8989). The poet's grave, which is located in the estate's garden, is freely accessible at all times.
