Laurenzikirche

Church

Description

The Romanesque Laurenzi church is located in the scattered settlement of Haag near Markersdorf in the municipality of Neulengbach. The Roman Catholic branch church dates back to the 12th century - and is steeped in legend: Allegedly, St. Laurentius and the angels themselves chose the site for the church. Today, the little church has many things worth seeing, such as the original round building made of ashlars, the choir added in the 15th century and the crenellated sacrament house. Outside on the south side, there is a Roman stone set into the wall. Incidentally, the Laurenzi Church has also been immortalized in paintings by great artists such as Egon Schiele.
