Freudorfer Alfred

Heuriger wine tavern

Description

Since the 16th century ...
... the "serving of wine under the pointer" has always been a custom. In 1774, Emperor Joseph II confirmed the right of wine tavern owners to serve wine they had produced themselves, thus creating the legal basis for the wine tavern.

In Gumpoldskirchen, it is therefore an old tradition for winegrowers to market their wine themselves in the wine tavern. Around 30 wine taverns give the village a special flair year in, year out.

Our wine tavern has room for about 100 people. The bar is non-smoking. Smokers, however, have cozy separate rooms at their disposal to end the working day with a good Achterl and an after-work cigarette.

In summer, our 80-seat old Haurerhof is the perfect place to linger and taste our wines.

Our rustic Heurigen buffet with delicacies from typical Viennese and Mediterranean cuisine ensures your physical well-being. Our excellent home-made spreads are particularly noteworthy.

As a culinary highlight, we serve our incomparable oven-fresh caraway roast fresh from the kitchen once in the evening. This is served, in the old Buschenschank manner, in a "cold state", i.e. while it cools down.
Please refer to our newsletter for the exact times when this specialty is served.

The senior chef, who was also known as Gumpoldskirchner Weinkönig, accompanies the cozy Heurigen visit with Viennese songs on his accordion.
Musical highlights are also experienced when well-known and unknown musicians come to visit with their instruments. It can happen that Dad picks up the susaphone to play a Landler or two to the delight of the guests.
