Alpaca products
Alpaca wool is also known as the "fleece of the gods". There are approx. 16 - 24 basic colors. These range from white, gray and brown to black. White wool is very valuable as it is suitable as a base for any coloring.
Alpaca fibers have very good insulating properties and are among the most valuable natural fibers. Due to its fineness, alpaca wool is often compared to cashmere. The fibers are hollow and therefore wick moisture away from the surface of the skin and reduce perspiration. The thermal properties of alpaca fiber (temperature-regulating) make it suitable for use in summer and winter clothing. As the alpaca fiber has no wool grease, it is well tolerated by the skin and is also suitable for allergy sufferers.
In our small family business, we process the fleece of our alpacas (mostly by hand) into the following products:
Bedding (quilts and pillows), knitted wool, hoods, headbands, socks, gloves, mittens, slippers, shoe inserts, scarves, ponchos, triangular scarves.
We also dye some of our alpaca fleece with plants (vegetable-dyed alpaca yarn) and spin it into creative knitting yarn (art yarn).
