Hollaus Erdbeeren & Spargel
Farm shops / producerDescription
Tradition is our foundation, innovation our drive.
For generations, the passion for farming has shaped our family image. It has changed in many ways, be it in arable farming or livestock breeding. In 2003, we started with the direct marketing of strawberries. A great deal of commitment and years of experience have led to the top quality that our customers are delighted with today and that you can feel in every one of our products.
However, moving with the times doesn't just mean continuing traditions, but also taking innovative paths. That's why we started growing asparagus in 2018, the first farm in the Vienna Woods to do so.
"Healthy, aromatic & fresh every day."
The sweet fruits thrive in our strawberry fields between the end of May and the end of June. The excellent quality of the strawberries is the product of years of experience, knowledge sharing and further training. The careful care throughout the year is reflected in the taste of our strawberries.
"Nutty, aromatic - simply delicious, your asparagus!"
We are only too happy to hear such compliments from our customers. The peaty soil on which our asparagus grows is responsible for its special taste. The sandy loam makes it the perfect basis for a strong, top-quality asparagus plant.
General information on strawberries
Fresh, ripe fruit tastes best and is full of healthy ingredients. You should therefore also buy strawberries in peak season. Or pick the fruit yourself in a strawberry field near you, because it doesn't get any fresher than this. Plenty of nibbling and tasting included!
Handle correctly - for maximum enjoyment!
Strawberries should be handled with care. Therefore, only wash the fruit immediately before eating or preparing it. Wash the berries carefully in plenty of water, but never leave them in the water. Only pluck the stalks and flower heads after washing. This is the only way to preserve the strawberry's incomparable aroma, lots of juice and valuable vitamins.
Did you know that ...
With only 37 kilocalories per 10 days, strawberries are one of the lowest-calorie fruits. It consists of 90 percent water, but the rest is really something.
The red berry is the leader when it comes to vitamins. It provides us with more vitamin C than citrus fruits and supplies folic acid, which protects against cardiovascular disease.
