Johanneshof - Reinisch
Farm shops / producer, WineryDescription
Johanneshof Reinisch in Tattendorf is located around 30 km south of Vienna, surrounded by vineyards. The region has a great tradition in viticulture.
The Romans were already making wine along the so-called Thermenlinie Wien, and today this geologically highly interesting area on the western border of the great Pannonian plain is one of the most excellent wine regions in the country. Careful selection of the grapes, gentle pressing, temperature-controlled fermentation, gentle ageing - this is how physiologically perfectly ripe grapes are transformed into fine wine at Joahnneshof Reinisch.
The wines are matured in more than 600 small oak barrels, traditional large wooden containers or in stainless steel until the ideal harmony of aromas is achieved. The current collection is presented in six lines and includes full-fruity and fresh wines as well as complex and finesse-rich wines.
The Reinisch family is the fourth generation of the family to grow wine in Tattendorf.
Johanneshof Reinisch cultivates vineyards in the most valuable locations around the traditional wine-growing villages of Tattendorf and Gumpoldskirchen. The special quality of the alluvial brown earth soils lies in their high permeability, which ensures rapid warming and thus eminently favors the ripening process of the grapes. The high limestone content brings a pronounced minerality to the wines and makes the Johanneshof Reinisch vineyards particularly suitable for cultivating vines of the Burgundy family. Pinot Noir, St. Laurent and Chardonnay are the main varieties on offer at Johanneshof Reinisch.
Rotgipfler and Zierfandler are cultivated on suitable terroir in the nearby village of Gumpoldskirchen, and their development is just as concise as that of all other wines from Johanneshof Reinisch while preserving the beautiful varietal character.
In keeping with the small-scale climatic conditions, around 60% of the wines from Johanneshof Reinisch are red wines, with white and sweet wines accounting for 40%. The maxim is decidedly the personal attention of the winegrowers to the wine. The brothers Johannes, Christian and Michael Reinisch cultivate the vineyards according to organic guidelines, using beneficial insects and a wide variety of greenery.
