Description
The 425m high Schöffelstein is considered a local mountain of the Viennese. It is located in the Vienna Woods near Purkersdorf. It can be reached from Vienna by public transport. The mountain is named after the "savior of the Vienna Woods", Josef Schöffel. Schöffel successfully fought against deforestation in 1872.
Hike to the Schöffelstein
A marked forest road leads from Purkersdorf to the Schöffelstein. There is a memorial stone at the summit in honor of Josef Schöffel.
