“That’s where we’ll stay.”
Sometimes that’s all it takes. The ‘Genussmeile’ is just such a place – open, relaxed and full of flavour. Amidst the vineyards and sweeping views, people raise a glass, laugh and celebrate the moment.
The right section for every taste
Whether it’s a leisurely stroll with the family, a pleasant wander with friends or a sporty exploration of the entire route – each of the three sections offers its very own character.
Why it’s worth making the trip to the Genussmeile
1. A unique experience – over two special weekends
Only ‘genuine’ on the first two weekends in September: You can enjoy a glass of wine at the wine taverns in the thermal region all year round – but the ‘Genussmeile’, aka the world’s longest bar in the heart of nature, is only available on the first two weekends in September. If you can’t make it, well, sorry – FOMO guaranteed.
2. Lots of winemakers – one route
You know the winemakers, their wine taverns and their venues. But enjoying wine right in the vineyard – and moving from stall to stall, so the next ‘Achterl’ is just a few steps away: sampling many different winemakers made easy.
3. High-quality
regional cuisine Where wine, cider and Sturm are on the menu, there’s naturally no shortage of regional delicacies. Game specialities, a classic Leberkäs roll, a hearty Heurigen bread or a vegan snack – there’s something to suit every taste on the Genussmeile.
4. Relaxed & sociable
A laid-back atmosphere, music, good conversation – the ‘Genussmeile’ is also a social hub. Ideal for a day out with friends or family.
5. ‘Too crowded’? Not everywhere.
The ‘Genussmeile’ stretches for 15 kilometres – plenty of space to deliberately avoid the hustle and bustle. Those who prefer a quieter atmosphere, with unobstructed views and a more leisurely pace, will find exactly that away from the hotspots: the same quality, but fewer crowds.
6. Easily accessible, flexible to
explore Travelling by public transport or shuttle? No problem. The ‘Genussmeile’ is easily accessible from Vienna and can be tailored entirely to your time and interests. If you want, you can stay all day – if you’re short on time, just pop in for a quick visit.
