Klosterneuburg boasts an extensive network of cycle paths within the town itself, as well as numerous varied tours through the neighbouring floodplain and the Vienna Woods.
Particularly worth highlighting is Klosterneuburg’s role as an important stop-off point on the popular Passau–Vienna Danube cycle path. This route is one of the busiest cycle routes in Europe and is used by around 350,000 cyclists every year. Thanks to the excellent signage, you can reach Vienna easily and without any detours.
The infrastructure along the route is extremely well developed: inns, supermarkets, cyclists’ meeting points, guesthouses, private accommodation and hotels ensure that all your needs are catered for throughout the journey. Furthermore, large sections of the Danube cycle path can be cycled on both banks of the Danube.
On the north bank, the route runs from Passau to Schlögen, where you can take the ferry to the south bank. From there, the route follows the Danube to Ottensheim, where you can cross back to the north bank.
The route continues along the north bank until just before Grein, then crosses the Danube bridge to the south bank. Alternatively, you can cross to the south bank as early as Mitterkirchen and cycle back to the north bank at Ybbs. The route then leads through the picturesque Wachau region to Krems.
Once you arrive in Vienna, first follow Cycle Route 6 and then the Danube cycle path towards Hainburg as far as the Floridsdorf Bridge. This takes you directly to the Danube Island.
If you wish to cycle directly to the Danube Island, you can cross the dam at Greifenstein to reach the left bank of the Danube and cycle via Korneuburg to the Danube Island.

Numerous well-maintained cycle paths wind through the varied natural and cultural landscape around Vienna, inviting you to actively explore the water, forests and vineyards.
