Himberg

The Lower Austrian market town of Himberg in the district of Bruck an der Leitha is located just a few kilometers from Vienna - nestled in the Vienna Basin and crossed by the Kalten Gang groundwater river. The municipal area includes the villages of Gutenhof and Himberg as well as Pellendorf, Velm and Fasanensee. Near Velm is the so-called Münchendorf lake district with bathing ponds and weekend house settlements.

Himberg: history from yesterday to today
In ancient times, the area was part of the Roman province of Pannonia. The area was particularly important due to the legionary camps of Vindobona, Alanova and Carnuntum. Himberg was first mentioned in documents around 1100. In the Middle Ages, the town was the scene of the Inquisition: two people were burned at the stake in the early 14th century as part of the persecution of heretics. Himberg was granted market rights in 1356. In the 19th century, more and more businesses settled here. Today Himberg is a modern community with excellent infrastructure.

Leisure and excursions in Himberg
Whether it's the 36-hole course at the Gutenhof Golf Club, the Himberg forest pool, which is easy to hike, or the Triestingau cycle path, which is easy to cycle: the town offers great sports and leisure opportunities for the whole family. Cozy guesthouses and hotels in and around Himberg invite you to take a short break in the countryside at any time. Worth seeing are the parish church of St. George from around 1130, the parish church of St. Nicholas from the 16th century and the privately owned Velm Castle from the early 19th century. Several historical statues also characterize the Himberg townscape.
