Breitenfurt bei Wien
The market town of Breitenfurt in the Lower Austrian district of Mödling is located in the Vienna Woods - right on the outskirts of Vienna. The municipal area includes Breitenfurt and Hochroterd. The area was settled relatively late: It was first mentioned in documents in 1622. Breitenfurt is considered a scattered settlement, which after the Second World War consisted of several individual, self-contained settlements. The village was granted market rights in 1930.
Today, the active community is a popular destination for vacations and day trips: Its rural-urban mix offers historical sights and friendly restaurants - as well as lots of great sporting opportunities.

Today, those interested in culture will find the baroque chapel of a former hunting lodge in Breitenfurt - with works by the Altomonte school of Raphael Donner. The church of St. Bonifaz, designed by architect Clemens Holzmeister, is also well worth a visit. The monastery of St. Josef belongs to the Roman Catholic order of the Congregation of the Daughters of Divine Love.

Numerous paths in Breitenfurt invite you to enjoy daily cycling, hiking and horse riding. The routes run through tranquil oak and beech forests. In summer you can go golfing, in winter you can hit the ski slopes of the family-run Brenneralm. There is always the opportunity to take a break at an inn or Buschenschank (typical tavern). By the way: the legendary "Original Breitenfurter Milchrahmstrudel", which according to legend was invented here, is highly recommended.
