Description

Gardening with imagination and creativity

Christine Wiesmann has been gardening in her 500 m² garden in Pfaffstätten, south of Vienna, for more than fifteen years. It is a feel-good garden close to nature, where the praying mantis, known in Pfaffstätten as "Les'hahnl", various dragonfly species and a large number of butterflies have found a habitat. The ambitious hobby gardener is particularly fond of locations that are generally considered difficult, such as a dry strip on the south side of the house. True to the motto "There is no place where nothing grows", she tries to plant such locations too. With success - some perennials have already become too lush there. A narrow bed is to be created in the entrance area of the neighbor's garage. It will provide space for those delicate plants that are always overgrown elsewhere in the garden, such as some types of iris. This community project is intended to encourage people to "use their imagination and creativity in the garden and simply try out ideas", says the enthusiastic gardener.
