Description

The Gothic castle, built in the Middle Ages, was extended in the Renaissance style in 1588. It was a refuge for the population and could not be taken even during the Turkish wars. After an attack by the French in 1809, the east and south wings were demolished by the end of the 19th century. In 1971, the municipality of Totzenbach bought the castle ruins. The building then changed hands several times and is still privately owned today - lovingly extended and restored. The castle is not open to the public, but regular events are held and it can be booked for weddings and events.

In addition to the castle, the owners (the Berger family) have developed an extensive park with courtyards and event venues, which also meets all the infrastructure requirements for a summer theater: the Kulturherberge Schloss Totzenbach
