Description
To the west of Perchtoldsdorf lies the Hintere Föhrenberg, 575 m high. The 11 m high Josefswarte, named after the renowned anatomist Josef Hyrtl, was built on its summit in 1891 and has been the destination of many visitors ever since: it is easily accessible and, in suitable weather, offers a magnificent view both to the west towards the foothills of the Alps and to the east over the Vienna Basin as far as the Leitha and Rosalia mountains, the Hundsheim mountains and the Little Carpathians.
