The Badener Hauervinothek is located in the former farmyard of Heiligenkreuz Abbey, the Heiligenkreuzerhof, and offers the opportunity to taste and purchase around 100 exquisite Baden wines, frizzante, sparkling wine, grape brandies and grappa chocolate from 10 Baden wineries in a medieval setting.

If you would like to get to know the wines of the various Baden winegrowers better, you can take part in one of the regular wine tastings with commentary . These take place every 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month and focus on different themes.

The winegrowers at the Badener Hauervinothek also organize individual tastings for groups of ten or more - ideal for groups of friends, family or company celebrations. The dates are arranged according to your wishes.

A real highlight is the Badener Lumpentürl - a special bottling of the Badener Hauercollegium - which is exclusively available at the Badener Hauervinothek. The name comes from the time when Baden was still surrounded by city walls and the city gates were closed at nightfall. Anyone returning home late at that time could only find their way back into the city through a small, hidden entrance in the city wall - the legendary Lumpentürl, which has been preserved to this day in Pfarrgasse.

Details about the events organized by Baden's winegrowers can be found at www.badenerwein.at.

"In the footsteps of phylloxera"
A vineyard hike up the Badener Berg

Guided by a knowledgeable wine expert, you will learn about the local grape varieties and the history of viticulture on a leisurely hike. The hike starts at the Tourist Information and leads through the lower part of the Kurpark, up the Badener Berg to the vineyards above the town. The magnificent panoramic view over the Vienna Basin and the spa town of Baden, nestled between the Harterberg, Römerberg, Mitterberg and Badener Berg vineyards, as well as the view of the Wine Road towards Gumpoldskirchen and the gentle vineyard hills in front, make up for the arduous climb. Back through the villa district and the spa gardens, a free glass of Baden wine is offered for tasting in the Badener Hauervinothek.
The tourism department of the municipality of Baden is looking forward to your participation.

Dates of the summer hikes can be found in the calendar of events and in due course on www.tourismus.baden.at
