Achau
The natural community of Achau is located in the district of Mödling. Here - in the northern Vienna Basin - the Mödlingbach and Krottenbach rivers flow into the Schwechat. In addition to Achau, the municipality also includes the settlement of Riedenhof and Achau Castle. The historic hydraulic engineering structure of the Imperial Abbey is a sight that can be experienced. They date back to the time of Empress Maria Theresa and Emperor Charles VI - and were renovated in the 1990s to prevent flooding. Achau Castle, which is steeped in history, is also worth a visit: The centuries-old moated castle is located directly in the village. After massive damage during the Second World War, it was successfully rebuilt.
