Eichgraben

The market town of Eichgraben in the district of St. Pölten-Land is located in the western Vienna Woods - with excellent transport links thanks to the Western Railway and the Steinhäusl highway junction. The municipality includes the villages of Eichgraben, Hinterleiten, Hutten, Ottenheim, Stein and Winkl. With rushing forests, babbling streams and rolling hills, the landscape is perfect for time-outs, vacations and hikes. The above-average humidity is another feel-good bonus.

Eichgraben can look back on a long history: In ancient times, the area was part of the Celtic kingdom - and subsequently the Roman province - Noricum. It was settled in the 11th century and finally mentioned in a document for the first time in the middle of the 14th century: at that time under the name "Aichgrawe".

Discover Eichgraben: Excursion destinations for young and old
The Wienerwaldmuseum Eichgraben in the Fuhrwerkerhaus displays a comprehensive collection of exhibits from the fields of geology, archaeology, folklore and crafts - both inside and in the adjoining open-air museum. Particularly exciting: a reconstructed cave that can be explored as well as hands-on events for children. A must in summer is the wonderful Wienerwaldbad: the popular outdoor adventure pool offers many attractions for young and adult water rats and bathing beauties.
In general, there is plenty on offer for sporting activities. There is an adventure and toddlers' playground, exercise park and pump track.

Experience Eichgraben: By bike, on foot & on horseback
Marked hiking trails, bridle paths and challenging cycling and mountain bike routes run through the entire municipal area. A 40-kilometre-long high-altitude hiking trail runs around Eichgraben. The stage from Eichgraben to Rekawinkel and the Götzwiesen Eichgraben circular tour are great tips. There are also many other hiking routes and cycle paths - with postcard panoramas and cozy places to stop for refreshments.
