Günselsdorf
The market town of Günselsdorf in the district of Baden is located in the Vienna Basin on the Triesting. The village is characterized by agriculture and viticulture. The Babenbergs settled here in the 11th and 12th centuries, and "Guncinesdor" was first mentioned in a document in 1130. Today, Günselsdorf welcomes visitors with quiet walking paths as well as friendly restaurants and Buschenschank (typical tavern).
Günselsdorf - then and now
Where the B17 and B18 main roads cross today, there used to be a toll station and a post office where horses were changed until 1848. The historic post office building is now used as a residential building. The Löwentor gate directly opposite is also worth seeing: the impressive portal was built in 1812 as the entrance to the park at Schönau Castle. Also of historical interest: In the middle of the 19th century, a large cotton spinning mill was built, which operated until 1965. The church in the village dates back to 1783 and is dedicated to St. George.
