Maria- Anzbach

The market town of Maria-Anzbach in the district of Sankt Pölten-Land is nestled between the Buchberg and Kohlreithberg mountains in the western Vienna Woods. The name "Amizinesbach" was first mentioned in a deed of gift from Emperor Otto III in 998. Today, 16 villages belong to the municipality: from Burgstall to Winten. The enchanting landscape in the valley of the Anzbach - a tributary of the Große Tulln - offers beautiful hiking trails for vacationers and day-trippers. There are also historical sights waiting to be discovered.

Maria-Anzbach: sights in the countryside

The pilgrimage church to the Mother of Mercy is an old fortified church from the 15th century. Also worth seeing is the Schönbeck mill from the late Gothic period, where the first electricity for the town was produced at the beginning of the 20th century. Maria-Anzbach also has a fascinating medieval forge: Its cellar once concealed a secret passage that probably led all the way to the church.

Leisure time in Maria-Anzbach: hiking, horse riding & the best views

Maria Anzbach offers hikers numerous routes through the Vienna Woods. Adventure hikes with the trusting animals await at the Herler family's llama farm. Children and teenagers are welcome at the horse professionals. The Buchberg promises distant views for the whole family: the 22-metre-high Buchbergwarte was officially opened in 2004 by the municipalities of Asperhofen, Maria-Anzbach and Neulengbach. The Buchberg shelter is a cozy place to rest and celebrate.
