Rauchenwarth: the great history of this small community
The first documented mention of Rauchenwarth dates back to before 1257. In 1652, a forest spring to the west of the village was said to have healing properties. According to legend, the water, which was initially used to water the cattle, had made numerous miraculous healings possible. As a result, a place of pilgrimage developed: first a chapel and then a church were built.
