Sollenau
The market town of Sollenau in the district of Wiener Neustadt-Land is crossed by the Piesting River and the Wiener Neustadt Canal. In pre-Christian times, the area belonged to the Celtic kingdom of Noricum - and thus to the area surrounding the Celtic hilltop settlement of Burg in Schwarzenbach. Sollenau was first mentioned in a document in 1166.
Today, Sollenau im Steinfeld, with over 5800 inhabitants, is one of the most populous communities in the district of Wiener Neustadt-Land. As a very popular community, Sollenau has become a home for young families in particular. Old and young meet in the village, and a wide variety of events are held throughout the year. Great offers from clubs, businesses and the like leave nothing to be desired. People come together here in all their diversity and together form a home where you feel at home.
Pleasure cycling through Sollenau
The Piestingtal cycle path is a particularly beautiful tour through the valley of poets (Ferdinand Raimund) and musicians (Johannes Brahms). It takes a good 6 hours from Sollenau to Gutenstein. Historical pavilions along the route offer insights into the Biedermeier period.
