Zwölfaxing

The municipality of Zwölfaxing in the district of Bruck an der Leitha is crossed by three bodies of water: the Kalter Gang, Mitterbach and Schwechat. Several important finds attest to the early settlement of the area. The largest and most important finds are the famous Avar graves.

Thanks to its foundation around the year 850, Zwölfaxing is one of the oldest villages in the region. Zo Welfossingen" was first mentioned in a document around 1115. For many centuries, life in the municipality was dominated by agriculture. There are now a few small businesses here, while the majority of residents commute to work in the surrounding area.

Zwölfaxing: sports club & military seat
Zwölfaxing is not only well known as the location of the Austrian army's Burstyn barracks, which housed the former Panzer Battalion 33 for a long time. The municipality has also made a name for itself in the world of sport: The local sports club HSV Zwölfaxing is a multiple state champion in dance sports.

Places of interest in Zwölfaxing
A plague column and a statue are reminders of the first half of the 18th century. The modern parish church of St. Trinity was built in the 1960s. A former manorial mill and the "Old Castle" from 1570 are privately owned.
