Description

This geological theme trail opens up the eastern part of the Harz Mountains and uses 17 stations with interesting information boards to explain why this region has so many special features to offer. The circular trail runs along a well-signposted and easy-to-walk path. It leads via the Helenenhöhe, the quarry and the Marschgrube up to the Jubiläumswarte on the Harzberg with a fantastic view into the distance.

Along the way, you will learn a lot about

  • the general geological conditions that prevail in the region
  • the formation of some rocks and the forces that have shaped today's landscape
  • why almost nowhere else can you see the enormous shifts in the earth's crust as beautifully as in Bad Vöslau
  • how the Vöslau thermal water ends its journey underground
  • how sand mining contributed to the formation of the cave system on the Harzberg
  • and much more

Please ask in advance at the Tourist Info Bad Vöslau whether the caves can be visited.
