The Schottenhof trail, which is very close to nature, is an ideal change of pace for in-between. It is easily accessible and suitable for all skill levels. There are also attractive gimmicks with some nice single trails and gourmet huts.

The Schottenhof route is a natural mountain bike tour in the Vienna Woods that stretches over 10.64 kilometers and climbs 259 meters in altitude. The route is characterized by varied trail conditions. A special highlight is the Schottenhof, a historic manor house that was originally built in 1840 as a residence for the forest warden of the Schottenwald and is now a popular excursion destination with a restaurant and riding stables. The route also offers some appealing single trails and leads past gourmet huts that invite you to stop for a bite to eat. Thanks to its easy accessibility and suitability for different skill levels, the tour is ideal for a short but rewarding ride in the great outdoors.

safety instructions Before each ride, check the functionality of brakes, tires and suspension fork/shock absorber. Always ride with hazard awareness and controlled speed and adapt your route choice to the group's riding ability and the surface. The Fair Play rules must be observed at all times. Single/shared trails as well as constructed routes in trail parks and trail centers increasingly feature stones, roots, steep sections, steps and hairpin bends requiring specific riding skills. When in doubt, simply dismount and push your bike.
Equipment A safe and functioning mountain bike is a prerequisite for all routes. Helmet and gloves protect in case of falls and can be complemented with knee and elbow protectors for single/shared trails. A modern mountain bike with disc brakes and sufficient tire tread is recommended. For single and shared trails from the red difficulty level up, a full suspension bike with modern geometry is recommended. Tools, tire levers, pump and spare tube help in case of a breakdown. Enough provisions (drinks and food) should also be carried along with a mobile phone and wind/rain jacket.
Route description We start from Schwarzenbergallee at the statue of Ares Ludovisi on a trail towards Hanslteich. Passing Hanslteich and turning right on Amundsenstraße, then sharply left at the parking lot onto a trail leading to Rieglerhütte. There we cycle back on Karl-Bekehrty Straße continuing on Amundsenstraße. We go about 200 m uphill and then right onto a trail up to Schottenhof and then downhill again, parallel to the road. Passing Hanslteich, we cycle back to Schwarzenbergallee.Surface: Asphalt 5%, Gravel 78%, Forest/Meadow 17%

Getting there Coming from the west on A1 towards Vienna, continue on B1, turn left at Bergmillergasse, continue on Hüttelbergstraße, first exit at the roundabout onto Amundsenstraße, first exit at the next roundabout onto Neuwaldegger Straße, continue on Neuwaldegger Straße to Schwarzenbergpark. Coming from the south via A2 onto A23, exit Altmannsdorfer Straße/B224, continue on B223, turn left at Linke Wienzeile, turn right at Schlossallee, continue on Johnstraße, turn left at Hütteldorfer Straße, turn right at Leyserstraße, continue on Maroltingergasse, continue on Sandleitengasse, continue on Güpferlingstraße, left onto Dornbacher Straße, right onto Vollbadgasse, left onto Alszeile, continue on Dornbacher Straße, continue on Neuwaldegger Straße to Schwarzenbergpark.
