    Description

On a train journey through the green Triestingtal valley.

In 2004, the Leobersdorf Railway underwent a radical change: its section from Weissenbach to Hainfeld via Gerichtsberg was closed. However, two sections are still in operation today: the Traisentalbahn (St. Pölten - Hainfeld) and the Triestingtalbahn. The latter takes passengers from Leobersdorf to Weissenbach-Neuhaus.

The journey on the Triestingtalbahn line starts in Leobersdorf and runs via Wittmannsdorf, Enzesfeld-Lindabrunn and Hirtenberg to St. Veit an der Triesting. Here, a historic railroad keeper's house serves as a stop. The journey continues through the well-known factory town of Berndorf (with the stations Fabrik and Stadt) to Pottenstein and finally to the terminus at Weissenbach-Neuhaus.

The Leobersdorf Railway was originally built in the late 19th century as an important link between the Southern Railway and the Western Railway. This successfully promoted the settlement of businesses in the mountainous region of the Triestingtal at the time.
