Cycling tour Starting from
A short final stage to allow time for a visit to one of Vienna's cafés. From Baden back onto the Thermenradweg or Wiener Neustädter Kanal, the route heads north to Laxenburg.
From there, the route takes you on alternating sections through the green and built-up outskirts of Vienna; the city limits are crossed at Vorarlberger Allee; continuing past the cemetery in Inzersdorf, the route then takes you once again along a watercourse, along the Liesingbach stream, which gives its name to Vienna's 23rd district.
The stream is followed by the last slight climb up the LaaerBerg; before the bikes roll gently downhill through Favoriten, Vienna's 10th district, towards the starting point of the tour, Vienna's main railway station, it is worth taking another look back; there is certainly still time for one of Vienna's coffee houses; the best way to get there is by subway - in the meantime, the bike can recover well from the tour in the cycle station at Vienna railroad station.
Characteristics
Landscape and nature
The ride along the Wiener Neustädter Canal is also a special nature experience, away from the background noise of the Vienna environs with their freeways and tangents; ducks crossing the cycle path sometimes come into contact with the cyclists; every now and then, the wine-growing region becomes more and more visible. The route also leads along fields and copses; the Vienna Woods, with their eastern boundary on the horizon, are present for a long time; even in the big city, small green oases are passed from time to time, such as in Favoriten.
Gradients
No serious climbs, but a slight ascent "on the Laaerberg".
Mixed traffic
Largely on separate routes and cycle paths, especially along the canal; in urban areas on marked cycle paths along roads.
