Altlengbach
The market town of Altlengbach in the district of Sankt Pölten-Land lies in the middle of the western Vienna Woods. The village was mentioned in documents as early as 1150 as Kirchweiler. Today, the municipality comprises 26 villages from Altlengbach to Unterthurm. Pleasure hikers, outdoor sports enthusiasts and families with children particularly enjoy spending their vacations here: with refreshing circular hikes, cycle paths and mountain bike trails on the one hand - and exciting excursion destinations on the other.
Altlengbach: a hiking paradise worth seeing
Numerous hiking routes in and around Altlengbach promise postcard idyllic views. The Cultura Trail Römerweg is easy and particularly suitable for small feet, while the Eichgrabner Höhenwanderweg is more challenging. An adventurous hiking destination is the Altlengbach castle ruins between Lengbach and Großer Tulln, and a great tip is the Gföhlberg huts, which can be easily reached via the Elsbeerweg trail.
Sights in Altlengbach
Particularly worth seeing in Altlengbach are the Gothic parish church - founded in 1040 and with valuable architectural elements from several centuries - and the old mill in Unterthurm with its mill museum. A chapel from 1700 and several historic aqueducts are also waiting to be discovered. Visitors will find several family-friendly restaurants and hotels for a snack, rest and overnight stay.
