Sights steeped in history and wildly romantic landscapes invite you to take a day trip or a short vacation at any time. Kottingbrunn: galloping history(ies)
The Lower Austrian municipality has seen a lot: in 1896, the Jockey Club for Austria bought Kottingbrunn Castle and built a 2,800-metre-long racecourse. It quickly gained a reputation as one of the best racecourses on the continent. Today, only stone remains remind us of the glory days of the racecourse. During renovation work in 1915, the grandstands fell victim to a devastating fire. Another important historical fact: on April 11, 1955, an Austrian delegation set off from Kottingbrunn airfield for Moscow - and returned four days later with the finished draft of the State Treaty.
