Maria-Lanzendorf: visit the pilgrimage church
The impressive Maria Lanzendorf parish and pilgrimage church dedicated to Our Lady of Sorrows was one of the most visited pilgrimage sites in Lower Austria for a long time. The "Church of Maria auf der Heyd" was first mentioned in a document in 1145. Today, the church is known for its particularly rich art treasures. Among other things, it houses paintings by the famous Salzburg Baroque painter Johann Michael Rottmayr.

The Calvary of Maria-Lanzendorf
The construction of today's - exceptionally beautiful - Calvary began in 1699 and was completed eight years later. The artificial hill with its spiral staircase depicts the stations of Christ's Passion in grottos and caves. The adjacent Chapel of the Holy Sepulchre from around 1700 was converted into a war memorial.
