Mauerbach
The market town of Mauerbach in the district of Sankt Pölten-Land is located directly on Vienna's city limits in the western Vienna Woods. The municipal area includes Hainbuch, Mauerbach including Hirschengarten and Untermauerbach as well as Steinbach. The Mauerbach river of the same name flows through it. The wonderfully wooded landscape with numerous beautiful hiking trails and cycle routes as well as cozy restaurants and accommodation invite you to take a trip, a break or a short vacation at any time.
Mauerbach: from monastery to spa
The famous Mauerbach Charterhouse is one of the most important monuments of its kind in Austria. The early baroque former monastery of the Carthusians was renovated in the mid-1980s. Visitors can follow in the footsteps of the Carthusian monks on interesting guided tours - and learn interesting facts about the life and history of the monastery. Right next door, the Resort & Spa Schlosspark Mauerbach is the perfect place to relax.
Tulbingerkogel: a vacation full of views in Mauerbach
In 1844, the Biedermeier author Adalbert Stifter wrote an excursion guide in which he highlighted the view from the Tulbingerkogel. Today, visitors can find the Leopold-Figl Warte here, which was built around 1966 to a design by architect Clemens Holzmeister. On the other hand, the traditional Berghotel Tulbingerkogel provides comfortable overnight accommodation and beautiful views from the panoramic terrace. Another great tip for mountain bikers is the Tulbingerkogel route - a particularly scenic route starting and finishing in Mauerbach.
