The Lower Austrian municipality of Laab im Walde, in the district of Mödling, is located in the Vienna Woods—a picturesque natural setting right on the outskirts of Vienna. The area was settled early on; the first documented mention dates back to the year 1200. During the reigns of the Babenbergs and Habsburgs, Laab im Walde was a popular hunting ground. Today, marked hiking trails, horseback riding paths, and bike routes invite visitors to enjoy some time in nature.

Sights in Laab im Walde
The entire municipal area is dotted with historical gems—such as charming chapels and historic aqueducts. The parish church of St. Koloman, along with the former Wintersbach Castle, is considered an important cultural landmark. On the site of the former church and cold-water sanatorium stands the monastery complex of the Sisters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul. The impressive complex was rebuilt in the Heimatstil architectural style in 1912 and 1913.
