This combination of the Helenental Cycle Path and the Abbey Cycle Path unites what has already enchanted famous walkers such as Ludwig van Beethoven or Franz Schubert.
This cycle tour offers the following highlights over a total of 26 km, there and back:
The tour starts at the Baden Tourist Information Office, passes by the Rosarium, and continues to the edge of town, where the two castles, Rauheneck and Rauhenstein, still guard the entrance to the valley today. From here, the route continues along the Schwechat River through the Helenental Valley—past the Hotel Krainerhütte, a seminar and event hotel—all the way to Sattelbach. From there, the route continues directly across a secured intersection near Sattelbach onto the Stiftsradweg bike path to Heiligenkreuz, home to Heiligenkreuz Abbey, the spiritual center of the Vienna Woods. The tranquil, romantic 13th-century cloister and the monks’ daily vespers invite you to linger and reflect. Almost the entire bike path through the Helenental runs through the forest and is a delight to ride, especially in summer.
