Weissenbach is located in the Triestingtal valley exactly where the Furthergraben stream flows into the valley from the southwest and the Nöstachbach stream from the north. The former summer resort, which can still be reached by train, is an ideal starting point for several beautiful hikes. To the west of Weissenbach rises the Hocheck, which at an altitude of 1,037 m already offers an extended hike. The fact that there is also a refuge and a viewing tower with a fantastic 360° panorama at the summit rounds off the hiking experience. North of the Triesting, more leisurely hikes through the typical Vienna Woods landscape predominate, with gentler mountains and forest areas interspersed with many meadows and pastures. Here you will find both the typical pine forests of the region as well as magnificent high beech forests. An exception in these gentle landscapes is the Peilstein, whose limestone walls protrude from the forest and which is the traditional climbing area of the Viennese. In Weissenbach itself, the Triestingtal Museum is well worth a visit, with its extensive collection of around 10,000 exhibits from the valley, as well as the church and cemetery. In the district of Neuhaus, the renovated Neuhaus Castle with the parish and the forest class are well worth a visit.

Description
The hike leads from the small, idyllic village of Schwarzensee first via the "Kremer Weg" to the Peilstein with the Peilsteinhaus (716 m) and then along the upper edge of the famous climbing walls of the Peilstein to the southwest. Here you can enjoy the alpine, rocky ambience with the windswept black pines. Rest areas offer great views to the west. On a well-developed path through the pinnacle basin (alternatively: path through the forest) you reach the lower, south-eastern end of the Peilsteinwände, which you hike along their entire length on a hiking trail at their foot. As you pass impressive rock formations such as Hahnenkamm, Cimone and Luckete Wand, you can observe the climbing action up close. At the north-eastern end of the walls, the trail finally climbs back up towards the Peilsteinhaus. Once here, we recommend taking a break on the sunny terrace and there is a playground for children. The comfortable gravel road is chosen for the way back to the parking lot, which takes hikers across meadows with views from the Iron Gate to the Rosalia and past the Peilsteinhütte nature lovers' hut back to the starting point.
