Despite the most thorough research, routes may be subject to unforeseen short-, medium-, or even long-term closures (e.g., due to restricted forest areas designated by landowners). Some of the parking options we recommend may be privately owned or subject to a fee—please pay attention to the on-site signage. Some trails may pass through sections or entirely through areas operated by entities that charge fees (e.g., nature parks or gorges). However, this is usually explicitly noted in the description. All information is provided without guarantee, and use of the trails is at your own risk. Please observe any trail closures as well as notices from hunters and landowners.

Sturdy shoes, rain jacket, water, backpack with essential personal items

From the Neulengbach city train station, we walk north across Rathausplatz toward the Old Town. After passing Kirchenplatz, we reach Ulmenhofstraße and follow it to the right toward the northeast (yellow trail markers) until we reach Almersbergstraße. Walking uphill, we reach Buchberggasse and follow the signs toward Buchberg. On the way back from Buchberg, we take the blue-marked hiking trail and, at the fork, turn right down the paved path toward the forest trails. Once we reach the first houses, we take the first sharp right toward Neulengbach (red).
CAUTION! Although there is a sign on Kirschnerwaldstraße indicating that the white-red-white hiking trail continues across private property next to a horse paddock, this section was closed at the time of the survey (April 21, 2020)! Therefore, take the alternate route via Grillenhofstraße – Almersbergstraße – Austraße – Egon-Schiele-Straße – Schustergasse. We follow Egon-Schiele-Straße straight ahead toward Neulengbach Castle until, after a short incline, we come to a park bench in the grove. We now follow the path to the left until it joins Weinheberstraße, followed by Postgasse. Continuing straight ahead, we reach Rathausplatz and turn back toward the train station.

Please be careful in the woods, as the cold weather may cause some areas to be slippery.
