Pottenstein
The market town of Pottenstein in the district of Baden is located in the Triestingtal valley in the Vienna Woods. It comprises the cadastral communities of Fahrafeld and Pottenstein. Like many other communities in the region, Pottenstein was dominated for a long time by a local textile factory. Traces of this large industrial monument can still be found today - as well as numerous other sights and Excursion destinations. Beautiful hiking and cycling trails lead through the Vienna Woods. This makes Pottenstein ideal for family breaks and short vacations.
Pottenstein: Excursion destinations worth seeing for young and old
The industrial monument of the cloth factory from around 1840 is now home to the road maintenance department and fire department. The old manor house of the cloth factory houses an exhibition room and Pottenstein's registry office wedding room. Also worth seeing are the Pottenstein Maria Trost im Elend pilgrimage church, the Fahrafeld branch church and a double charnel house from the 13th century. Only ruins of Fahrafeld Castle remain today. A monument and the house where he died on the main square commemorate the great Austrian playwright Ferdinand Raimund, who died here in 1836.
